There are a couple of ways to add relevant content to Facebook and share that content with your friends.
This can be content you come across while surfing other sites, or it can be content you’ve written yourself an posted on your blog.
I’ll show you how to add from the RSS subscription, or the website itself.
Unfortunately AR may still be having issues with embedding video so if thevideo does NOT show below, you'll have to watch the video at
http://areweconnected.com/2008/11/how-to-adding-content-to-facebook/
or at

If you have a blog and you want to share a post you’ve written you can use the Blogcast application within Facebook.
How simple is that?

Aloha Mike,
Great info as usual. I'm a little hesitant to use face book as anything more than a place to socialize with family and friends but adding more content from my business can only help.
Peace,
Hi Mike,
Great idea. I like adding videos that i find interesting help. I learn about others plus visa versa too.
I love my Facebook! And I already know how to add LinkedIn. But my Facebook is ALL play! I have to be careful which social networking platforms I mix. My You Tube buddies are too much to handle around my clients.
Thanks Mike - Great information! I'm new to facebook and have been playing with some of the features. Your post has been helpful and will be useful in expanding my content on this media. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip, Mike! I've been so focused on building friends that the content has been neglected. With a long holiday weekend coming up, this will be a great time to start!
Kimo - Nice to hear from you! I’m of the belief that we should be showing our personal side in all things Social Media.
Christina – I agree, sharing is one of the best ways I learn.
Lisa – If that’s how you roll, that’s ok. Let me ask you this though. Have you ever had a an old friend say something like “I wish I knew you were in the business, I would have…” Yeah, we all have. Which is just one reason why I want to mix the two, so your friends know exactly what is you do for work and how proficient you are at it. But I also see your side of the story.
Jon and John – Everyday I seem to learn to love what Facebook does just a little more.

I use to do it that way and then I discovered the 'Share on Facebook' bookmarklet. It also works in Google Chrome which I use for most of my ActiveRain browsing.
I totally agree with Lisa. I think you really need to think about what you intend to use Facebook for. I think that, as professionals, we need a place to work and a place to play. Sometimes those two lines should not cross. I have found that as soon as you attach a photo of yourself on Facebook, all your long lost high school and college friends will come out of the woodwork. It is so fun and rewarding to be back in touch with these people, but you don't necessarily want your potential clients seeing what all your old friends have to say on your wall. But to address Mike's point, there's nothing wrong with including your website and employment info on your "info" tab to let your sphere know what you do.
Steve – I'll have to disgree with you.
Whatever you put on the internet can be found. It will be found by Google or it will be found by your potential client doing a little research before contacting you.
Having an alter ego on Facebook? Not a good idea. Besides, you can be human, civil, and professional at the same time on facebook.
Mike - I'm not advocating acting like a complete idiot on Facebook, and it's certainly not a place for an alter ego. Even though I use Facebook for reconnecting with old friends, I still go out of my way to make sure I don't post anything that I wouldn't want my clients to see.
The point I was trying to make was that even though you are on your best behavior, you can't control what your friends and family might post on your wall.
Thanks Mike. I just joined Facebook for my new years plan on social network expansion. Great info and thanks so much for it!
Great information. I've been in facebook for a while and enjoy the networking features there. I also post information and videos to my account.
Shane - AR has recently restricted some of the html and left other tags ok. Javascript functions have been seriously curtailed. It’s all about stopping malicious code from wreaking havoc (think VIRUS). They are working on it and things are changing daily. One of the items they zapped (that I really liked) was the ability to put images behind a table.
Mike- Pretty neat idea and thanks for the information! Good Luck in 2009!
