Mike Mueller, Social Media.ist

Just in case you thought you were caught up

Along comes a new search engine to worry about.

It's black background makes it cool and hip.

It's called

Cuil.com

Of course the first thing I did was search for me.

Oh Oh,

I didn't see any of the normal blog posts come up on the first page like I normally would.

That LinkedIn reference is me, but that's not a picture of me.  As a matter of fact I don't know who that is.

Mike Mueller on Cuil

Mike Mueller, the muscle car author and his books were all over the pages.

Algorythims change constantly. Did you know on average Google changes theirs up to 6 times a day?

But it appears that Cuil has very different ranking ideas than other search engines.

Looks like I'm going to stopping blogging and start writing Coffeetable Books!

Seriously, it's new, it's different, but until everyone starts using it (68% of my readers come from google) it's nothing to worry about.

I still like Google. You can set up an alert to see when your posts hit. I won't switch. Thanks for the news!

Have you tried Dogpile? as your search engine?  I really like it as it combines Google, Yahoo Search! and a bunch of others so I get an interesting mix of sites when doing a search.

Interesting post.  Thanks.

Google sits on top of the web search sites and had the financial backing to stay there for now.

Mike, when I search for my name AR blogs are returned too.  But I also have pictures of strangers.  Interesting...

Sounds like their algorythims need a little tweaking - I still think Google returns the best results and that's where most of my traffic comes from - for now.

Mike, The more the merrier. It is just going to take some getting used to. I imagine, since these guys are all ex-Google folks, it has it's own algorithms.....fun!

I will probably start to do some comparison searching... but I don't think Google has anything to fear for a while.

I came up on page 5 search in CUIL for chattanooga FHA. Funny though the photo with the result was not my photo either.

Most of the results seemed to be lead sites. Moreso than with Google.

Thanks for the update.

I had the same issue Mike - a few articles and my LinkedIn profile showed up, but the pictures were from God knows where. Strange. Interested to see how this site takes off though...
