Video is a waste of time

Go ahead and say it,

"Do you really expect to create connections with video?"

Oh, I don't know...

Let's say I was working the other day on a loan.
Let's say I had Twhirl quietly running in my system tray.
I happened to notice a tweet pop up from Trulia saying they were going to announce the winners of the Inman Connect Contest LIVE.

The tweet had a link, so I clicked it.
My browser opened up a live video feed from the Trulia Offices in NY.
I went back to work computing debt ratios, while Rudy and Company pulled the names of the three winners out of a baseball hat.
When it was done, I scrolled down a bit and saw that I could leave a video comment.

33 Seconds later I had left a video comment. Easy Peasy.

I happened to mention in my comment that I liked the live video and would look for someone local to create a live streaming video feed with in an open house.

Pam Buda (not an Active Member of ActiveRain but an Active Real Estate Agent) saw that video and commented.

I saw that Pam had commented and commented back (sssshhhhhh... We're connecting)

Rudy saw that Pam and I were connecting and offered up a little help.

Long story short, I just got off the phone with Pam - We had a great conversation (more connecting)  I learned she used to be a Video Producer for 20 years!

It took me longer to write this post than it did to create valuable connections with a local agent who I can work with using video.

Hey, I'm just saying...

Mike,  all of you guys are going to make me get over this huge dislike of video that I have.  :)  I was on the radio last weekend, it's a start.  LOL.

This really looks neat.  I believe video is good, just don't like it.  :)  Trying to like it.

Hi Mike!

It's amazing what has come out of the Inman/Voices LIVE stream I did on Monday on the Trulia Blog. Even though I have seen you online before, this is the first time we connected. And, what's even more amazing, we communicated via a video comment! I love it. Then, Pam jumped in and filled in our missing piece of the puzzle. Perfect.

To me, our experience is a good example of what social media can help us achieve - real meaningful connections. That day, we were all being proactive. We connected. And now, together, we will have something really cool to show for it. A LIVE streaming video open house in beautiful Sonoma County, California.

I'm pumped.

Can't wait to check it out later today. LOVE being connected with all you folks "comfortable and crazy on the bleeding edge"...somedays (like today) I literally walk around with a big smile on my face just because of how cool a time we live in technology-wise.

Way to go Mike, Pam and Rudy. Rock on.
