What’s Dropbox? It’s been one of my little secrets for a long time. For me it’s a great way to sync folders across the various computers I work with or between others. Did I mention it was FREE? I suggest it to all my clients so they can better share virtually anything!
Dropbox allows you to sync your files online and across your computers automatically. Sharing files is simple and can be done with only a few clicks. Dropbox backs up your files online without you having to think about it. A copy of your files are stored on Dropbox’s secure servers. This lets you access them from any computer or mobile device. Dropbox takes the security and privacy of your files very seriously. Military level encryption! The free Dropbox application for iPhone, iPad, and Android lets you access most everything on the go! Setup dropbox for yourself and let me know what you think.![]()

Thanks for the tip Mike. That sounds even easier than zip files and with more uses. I'll give it a whirl.
Mike,
Syncs to my iPhone too. Love the fact that the first 2G is free.
Rich
Thanks for sharing this Mike. Will get there and check it out.
With just "Sync" in mind, I have Google Chrome which syncs my browser bookmarks across all my computers, Gmail which syncs the email, Google Reader for the 200+ blogs I read, Seesmic Desktop for Twitter, and my hard drive which Dropbox does - all automatically. I love being in Sync!
Kristen - you can drop anything. Let me know how you like it!
Richard - I love that as well - haven't even come close to 1gb stored yet (I mainly store html / fbml / script files)
Mike - Love Dropbox! I find it useful in getting files back and forth between people - photos for homes especially. We use it a lot in our office - especially when doing website work. Transfer files to Dropbox, I can go in get what I need and make changes, and upload them back into Dropbox for another agent or our office manager. I'm sure you use it all the time - "Mike, I need a Facebook page done and I want to use these photos." - just sent them via Dropbox and you can download them when you're ready to sit down and do the work. Great tip Mike!
Matt - In RE I can see exactly that - you shoot 50 photos for 123 easy st. put them in your shared "marketing" folder. The brokers Marketing Assistant also has access to everyone's marketing folders and goes to compile the weekly "brokerage" marketing piece and doesn't have to ask or wait for photos / descriptions or worry about poor quality images - she has the same as what you have on your hard drive.
BTW: I started with the one video we mentioned last night on twitter and then watched every single BHG I could find, including a handheld one (from belgium) that had some great closeups of you! I was smiling for hours!
Ah Mike, I've been hearing more and more about dropbox. Our son just sent us an invite (?) recently and I've not had time to check it out. Will do now that you recommend it too! Thanks!!!
Mike, you are waaay cool. Still loving my map on my website!
Pamela - Your Son is one sharp cookie! Besides, what do I know?
Julissa - Thanks! I'm building a Mueller Map right now (for a luxury coach builder in florida)!
Great feature. I mentioned need for organization on another post of yours. Thanks for pointing this out.
that's a really cool (free) program. being the cynical gashole that I am, I'm trying to see what the downside to dropbox might be... and I can't come up with one.
thanks
Mike I Do Drop Box and it's been a great. It's so easy to keep tabs on whatever project/file we're working on. As for collarbortive projects - it couldn't get any easier. I first heard about Drop Box on ActiveRain University - goes to show you once again - Active Rain Rocks!
Looks like a great tool, thanks for sharing
Thanks Mike. I just started to play with this.
Mike thanks for sharing this, this is the first I have heard of dropbox it sounds like it works well for you. I am going to go give it a try Thanks!
t
Sweet! Thanks for the heads-up.
I use Dropbox for photos but didn't know it could be used for files. I'm about to go on vacation and would love to not take my laptop - thanks for the tip!
Just started using Dropbox, great service!
HI MIke - thanks for the information on Dropbox - I will definitely check it out. Free is always good!
That is the best thing ever. Don't have to carry around all your files and you can share file with others too.
This has been on my "to do" list waaay too long. Am checking it out right away!
I have been using Dropbox for about a month now and I love it. Thanks for sharing with everyone.
Mike, thanks for the tidbit of information. Curious to know are you able to benefit from the FREE version or did you have to upgrade to the next level (paid subscription)? 2GB is a lot of space, but that depends on the user.
You could write a blog with just your comments in #4. Thanks for the great info - I've been concerned/struggling with sync for a while and I think you've just given me the solution.
A million thanks!
I joined at one of the virtual rebarcamps but I have never used it...
I am the "cynical gashole" who knows a reason not to use it but I am not sharing my fear... It is mine, mine, all mine.
Mike, I have heard of dropbox but never explored it. I will have to check it out. BTW, I just noticed that you're in Walnut Creek. I'm going out there next week, can't wait to see Cali.
Cool, I'm going to go check it out. Thanks for posting the great tip.
Mike - i have a dropox account but I don't use it like I should. I guess I should start to use so I have easier access to my files..
Thanks for the heads up Mike, I am going to check it out, because I need something like this.
I think I need to check this out One of my staff uses it
Thanks for the tip Mike. I can really see severaly uses for this already. I will have to check it out.
Mike, I've been looking for something like this for a while. Thanks for sharing. I'm off to sign up for dropbox.
Hi Mike, I have not run across this one yet, thanks for sharing. I am a very organized person and I certainly will use this. Great offer.
Ann
I love DropBox and use it all the time! It's free, it's fast and I can easily send clients their own dropbox folders.
I do now, thanks for the tip Mike I believe I will get great use out of Dropbox.
Can we have more about the Mueller Map? Was that in a post I missed or is one coming up... shortly?
Mike, I signed up for it a long time ago but have forgotten about it. Thank you for reminding me to get my rear in gear and use it!
Mike I'll have to add it to the list for my husband to check out for me - thanks
Thanks!!
Mr. Mike - Thanks for this tip. Strangely though I got a spam spyware warning upon donwloading this. Should I be scared?
Yes I do!!! Best thing since sliced bread. I drop from my computer and use that as my "storage" for my iPhone.
Juliet - MuellerMap? It's explained a little more here: http://areweconnected.com/mueller-labs/
And here's a few in action...
For single files, pix, etc. you can also use a Yahoo or Hotmail e-mail account as a dropbox. If I have a pic at home I need at the office, I often just send it to my Hotmail address as an attachment. Then just pull it off when I get to work. It is simple and does work for me.
I have Dropbox, like Dropbox, and need to use it more often. Good reblog!
I love Dropbox!! Been using it for a little while and it's great!
I love Dropbox!! Been using it for a little while and it's great!
Yup, its a cool tool for sure. Thanks for sharing.
I can't wait to try it. I have things stored on three different computers and always need something that is on the other computer. I just love all of the new things AR members have taught me
Just downloaded Dropbox the other day. Gonna get around to playing with it to figure it out shortly. Thanks.
Interesting for sure. Thank you!
Nice share Mike!... I love DropBox... and I agree about Chrome, love it... it's so cool to have your browser sync'd... I have 2 laptops and a PC at home, work from a workstation PC at the office. I also roam my territory and often have to pop onto a PC in one of our branches and/or I'm at a clients office on their PC. It's so cool (if they have chrome installed) to log onto Google and everything that's mine is right there the same way I use it.
Thank you for sharing this tool and good use of a video link to explain the uses.
Howdy Mike - I used this for the first time from Jeremy's suggestion last week. Good stuff!
This is really cool Mike .. Thank You for the little tip !
Looks like a real timesaver for those of us with several locations and several PC's. Thanks, Mike!
Hi Mike - I love that you always have tidbits of great information for us. Dropbox is an amazing tool that I definitely need to use more often.
Mike, I wasn't aware of Dropbox. I'm forever manually transferring files from my computer to my laptop. Thanks for the info. I will check it out.
I love dropbox just don't think 2g is enough.
Robert - "Strangely though I got a spam spyware warning upon donwloading this. Should I be scared?" Not sure about that, I didn't get anything, what are you using? Was it a generic warning like "downloading files may..." or was it something like "This file contains..."
Roland - thanks for the reblog!
Angelica - they are hoping once you get to use it you'll need more space - that's where the paid version kicks in. That said, I'm only using 59mb of that 2gb space right now.
Mike, I had heard about DropBox but I've been using Jungle Disk for the past few years, which is an external drive that I can access from anywhere. Great for backup as well. But it sounds like Drop Box may have a few features that I'm missing out on. I will check it out. Thanks.
Hi Mike, I love dropbox. My team uses it and it is great tool. It is to comparison to having one file amongst many people and or computers. We have been using it for awhile now and have no complaints. Thanks for sharing.
Mike, what's happening my photos are in Dropbox and they are taking forever to load. I don't like it!!
Hi Mike...
I was just checking to make sure the Members have recently heard about DropBox. Good. You posted this in July. Excellent Application. I'm in luuuuuuuuuuuuuuv :)
TLW...ROAR!
Oh...
I actually did the coolest thing with it. I used it to bring X-Ray results to a Doctors appointment :)
