"...and it was the best one I had written all month!"
Do you ever feel like that? Like your highly informative post just didn't catch the attention it should have?
You are not alone. We all have posts like that.
- I had one recently You Only THINK You Were Approved that garnered only 10 comments (3 of them from me)
- Jeff Belonger wrote a wonderful post that for whatever reason just didn't get the readers and comments it deserved. The Explanation of Mortgages : From the beginning of time......
- Tony Gallegos wrote a great series of articles starting with Hunting For Your New Home - Part 1 and going to Buying Your Home - Conclusion (Part 10)
- Michael Haltman authored a fine series of Commercial Finance posts starting with Understanding the commercial mortgage process: An Overview
- Meg Burns had a very informative post that went with absolutely 0 comments! Apples to Apples, Blog to Blog - I read it, I then had an hour long phone conversation with her and then got back into my daily busy-ness and haven't gotten back to comment. Meg, I'm sorry I'll get there I promise.
Rosemary Brooks, Mark Blasi, Sally, Jeff Dowler, Lisa Hill, Sarah Eubanks, Angie Vandenbergh, Mariana Wagner, Ardell, Jason Sardi, Ed Rybczynski, Laurie Mindnich, Nick, George Souto, Andy Kaufman, Drew Meyers, Brad Carroll, Lenn Harley, Sarah Cooper, Tracey Thomas, Stephanie, Tony Marriott, John Occhi, Linda Davis, Maureen Henry (and so many more). You know the post I'm talking about.
Newbies - did you pour your heart and soul into a post only to have it go unnoticed? Have you sunken back into lurk mode? Get that post noticed. This is your big chance!
Crying about it isn't going to help. This isn't about not being Featured. It's about viewers and comments - pure and simple.
But here's your chance, or better named...

List the link and title to the post you think went unnoticed in the comments below.
That's right go ahead a put a link to it. It's ok.
If you really want you can even put a blurb about why you think we should read this. I promise you'll have more comments, more views, and more exposure - and that's what it's all about right?
Be Heard!

Did you know?

I'll start with Mine: You Only THINK You Were Approved
It's about how the mortgage market has changed drastically and even if you were approved before - that approval may no longer be valid. I think this is an important concept for Consumers, Loan Officers, Buyers Agents, and especially Listing Agents. The offer you accepted may now be worthless! Read on!
Hi Mike! I certainly do feel like that sometimes. I write something and get so excited about it, but then don't see as much interaction with it as I anticipated. It certainly is interesting to watch what people like to comment on. Sometimes I don't know if it is just timing on releasing posts, dumb luck or actual content that is not very appealing. Although I understand why local content doesn't get many comments.
So a recent post I thought people would really like... and I did get some comments, but I think it is so cool everyone has to check it out....
How to advertise a single property web address for $9/year.
Let's see how your little experiment takes off :) By the way... I vote to feature this post if any moderators are reading.... I think I am going to flag it.
Mike - So true the industry related blogs that you spend so much time in don't receive the most comments. Then funky little blogs like How to upload an Animated .gif gets tons of comments. ;) I think people are really more interested in cute little things that move than they are in great content.
Here's mind Myth #1 Busted - All you have to do to stage your home is bake cookies. It's an oldie but a goody.
See, Angie I knew you had one! Maureen too!
Maureen - It can be the first post you had, or the last it doesn't matter. Heck you could even point to someone elses funky little blog. HEY, that's mine!
Thanks for the flag!
OK, Mike, you put my name in there so I'll play. I'm not complaining, I usually have more people visit my blogs than I deserve, so this is hard for me to pick. And I'm generally not informative -- I just babble. (Are you sure you still want me to play?) I'll just throw this one out again because I'd like more people to do it. Make Someone Smile Challenge (Yes I Mean It). (It got some comments and good stuff came from it, but couldn't hurt to look again, right?)
Thanks, Mike!
Sarah - You never complain. I thought I had read all your posts - maybe I missed that one.
Christi - Where's the link? We want the link!
Sorry Mike!!! Willt ry harder in the future! :-)
Mike,
We've done countless posts that few or no comments were made but we don't sweat it. We just love to do what we're doing here in the Rain but this is a nice gesture on your part and we'll check out your post and comment too!
Mike,
I like this idea. It will give everyone a chance to spotlight a post they wished someone would read, that for whatever reason, got lost in the shuffle.
Here's one of mine from February that I really wish would have been read (SMILE:)
http://activerain.com/blogsview/43788/Keeping-to-the-Group
It wasn't very long, it was to the point and yet......nothing........:(
Haha. Great post. Love the baby picture!
Not sure mine is old enough to post. But here's mine:
Hi Mike! I'll bite!
Serious post: What Has Your IDX Done For You Lately?
Fun post: Don't Get Mad -- Get Valium (Or Lessons I've Learned From Spam)
I read your story...in fact I was the first to comment...that's all that matters right? haha!
Here's mine.
**Winners** of the "Legacy" Contest : Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul Group
British Homes Group - What's your post - Inquiring minds want to know.
Same thing - we want to read give us the link - we'll come running!
Maureen - Keep us posted!
Karen Hurst ~ Associate Broker ~ RI That is such an important read - thanks for including it.
Marc Vitorillo - New or old it doesn't matter - going there now.
Donna Yates - I know it's hard sometimes and downright deflating. Good for you on pressing on! Now give up that link.. we're waiting.
Tracy Thrower Conyers - I'll read them both. And thanks for the flag. if it get's more attention, more readers I'm for it. Personally I don't get caught up in the Featured or Points races. It's just not me.
Sally - That's a great post to include!
Mike, Thanks for the outlet. I was curious about posting here thinking that I might look like one of the whiners. I usually just post with an eye towards forwarding my office's future business (most of my posts have been listings) and don't worry about features. I do look at comment count and wonder sometimes. Here's my choice to repost. I thought it would have brought more comments
The Children are our Future
Kathy
Mike... I read that blog of yours and gave it a 5. Me complain...? lol Well, I had a m.o. that I did... and some people took it to far.. lol Seriously though, those posts that don't have smileys all over them, talk about gossip, talk about getting featured, or might be a little negative.. just won't usually get those wanted comments.
You know what, that is fine with me, as long as my phone rings or I get e-mails from consumers and realtors. I even get e-mails from other loan officers.
In any case, I truly appreciate the plug and the notice. I too was very shocked because I thought it was well written and informative... and yes, should have been featured. Gee, we saw others that were, but by bigger names and just with the basics.
Overall... I will stop back to add a few that I have come across. I actually started writing this over an hour ago and the phone hasn't stopped since...
Cristian - I just may do that! Great idea.
Kathy - It isn't about crying and whining. Adding a link here isn't whining - it's just raising your hand and saying "Hey, Look over here!" That's all. With 42,000 posters here it's easy to go unnoticed. Let's get that great post of yours noticed!
Jeff - Your post for sure should have more readers, more comments!
OK. I have felt like this alot. Maybe it's because I haven't thought of anything too spectacular to write about, but I'm trying....
Try these: It's never too late to write a Business Plan
or.....
A First Time Homebuyer's Step-by-Step Guide for a Mortgage
Each of these only got a couple of comments. And these were two that I thought I put alot of work and thought into. Thanks for giving them another chance!!
Good for you Angie!
I know the feeling, Mike. You spend all this time writing this "perfect" blog and no one comments. Ugh! This is a great blog, thanks for the 2nd chance.
My blog that was missed is Let Freedom Ring! Of course I thought it was fabulous. :)
Mike.. here is one by Chrissy Harrison. Short and to the point, but with good meaning behind it. Are You Really Listening? 6 comments
New Trend in Real Estate: Fly By Night Title Companies a growing trend. by : Scott Daniels 19 comments
Mike, my question is, how many comments are considered good enough? 5, 10, 100? If we only blog to get tons of comments, then we're going to be disappointed many times.
But thanks for giving many of us a second, or third chance.
LaShon - Thanks, I'll get back and read that later!
Jeff - I popped into the title post and WOW! I'll get back and leave a comment on both later.
Yolanda - Sometimes the posts we write don't call for comments. Sometimes they do. So I'll say it depends on the post as to how many I might expect. I typically don't get the huge number of comments anyway. My largest is 67 comments from How to Upload an Animated Gif. I blog to get my message out. Not for points, Features, or comments. But sometimes I have some really great posts that slip through the cracks for whatever reason and go unnoticed.
Christine - 10 posts in a week is all you get for points. Now you mentioned that you've been working on adding to localism - that's great. May I suggest then that the points don't matter? I don't think the points matter anyway but especially in localism. So which one of your posts did you want to mention here?
Mike, thanks for giving us another chance. I am new to AR and wrote my 1st post trying to get a better insight of how to balance the Internet exposure that we are all seeking with sharing and potentially disclosing weaknesses or vulnerabilities. I thought that there may be other Newbies pondering the same issues and perhaps holding back from writing. I would have liked to receive some guidance from the veterans, but did not get much of a response. Quite honestly, I still don't understand how people find posts. Thanks again for the second chance. This was my post:
AR - SHARING AND LEARNING OR SELF-PROMOTION?
Faina Sechzer - try that link again, it's not correct.
Great Post! It took me a hour to get back to post my comments. i got involved in all the side post and information sites. I am a REALTOR(R) in Vallejo and I have a great relationship with SOAR , although I am not a member.
Please let me know when or where I can come to a Blogging class. Call me at 707 386-1184 or e-mail at

Thank you so much. Have a great day!
That's funny, Tracy. I just asked the same question via the "Contact ActiveRain" link. I haven't received a response yet, though. If your question isn't answered by the time I get a response back, then I'll come back and post it here.
Mike, this is a great idea! Since I just joined yesterday, I'll give the folks some more time before I complain about no one noticing me (or should it matter?).
Hey Mike, great idea! I haven't been posting much lately. I'm having a hard time with ideas...and time.
I hope they feature this too! It's a great way for everyone to get attention.
I see you're getting plenty of comments on this one!
OK. Here goes... Driving on Daytona Beach part 2 (Beach Conservation
Driving on Daytona Beach
and Home Owners Facing Foreclosure-Beware of Scam Artists!
Tracy.... the 10 posts a week start Sunday at 1:00 am on AR time...central time....and will end Saturday night at 12:59 am
Hi Mike - what a great idea, spun out of frustration I know, but a great idea nonetheless and a wonderful way to get those posts that might have gotten lost a little more exposure. I plan to check out those that I may have missed over this weekend.
Maureen - Happy Birthday!! Today is my birthday, too, and like you, I won't be on AR for much longer today!!
Ann
Business Card tips -- Part 2
And ..... not being part of the popular club also hurts others on here...... well, I will leave it at that. ;o)
Tracy & Ilyce - I see that Jeff answered your question. Please keep in mind this is a completely free site. We don't pay for support and it is gracious they allow us to play in their sandbox.
Dionne Morgan - I would love to hold another class for SAOR. It was the first one I did.
Stephanie - Thanks for the kind words, Yo don't have a post for us to check out?
Lisa - Great posts - As you know I featured Home Owners Facing Foreclosure-Beware of Scam Artists! on The Foreclosure Report...
Maureen - Me too. I need more free time. Happy B-Day!
Ann - Happy B-Day too! Where's your post links?
Jeff - I like the metal business cards, way cool.
You know I have another one....
My entry in the Carnival of Content - Mortgage Edition was called
Choose Your Mortgage As You Would Your Shoes
The content was ok, but I was surprised that nobody noticed the alt image tags.
If you hover over the image, that's the little message that pops up.
I also created a special one off Active Mike for that post only. It went unnoticed.
Oh well. Maybe it was too subtle?
Mike,
Great idea, I think this is very helppful...
Tom Weiss
Hi Mike - thanks for the birthday wishes - had a GREAT day yesterday. I'll have to go back through my posts and check the comments. I usually just write them and HOPE for comments, and then move on my merry way commenting on others' poss.
There are some great posts listed here - and this is a great idea to have done this post so we can see some of the ones we missed.
Ann
Mike - Thanks for the mention and yes I was surprised that series did not get more AR feedback. However in all seriousness, I have shaken my head in amazement with numerous posts you have made that did not get featured...especially when I saw the posts that where featured. Jeff Belonger and Larry Bettag have posted recently. Sometimes it's like the AR moderators are like Russian Olympic judges and they only give high marks to their comrades. Heck, I going to make a post titled that.
FYI - The series you highlighted of mine got a terrific response on my outside blog (three solid loan leads).
Mike - Thanks for the great post with great information and links! I wasn't aware of your post until Angie mentioned it in her comment on my post, Are You Really Listening? . She was directed to it by Jeff in his comments of your post! (sorry for the shameless links, but I'm so flattered by your post and their comments!). I don't know why I haven't seen you blog before, but consider me a new subscriber!
Here's one I just found today that bears mention: Jim Kimmons blog - check it out!
Mike - I just had this happen to me with 2 different blogs. The first one was my attempt to add a little creativity to my blog aimed at guiding homebuyers and the homebuying process. It is ironically titled The One That Got Away. The information in the blog should be helpful and I would have appreciated having some people share their stories.
The second blog is a much more serious and important blog. It is a call to all Active Rainers to unite and help support a great cause. There have been some comments, but far fewer than I would have expected given the call to action. It has received viewers but very few commitments. I would really appreciate it if people would check out We Have The Power To Raise Over $400K For Karen George with an open heart and open mind.
Erica Wallace - You are never too new - Give us the link.
Jamie Mohrland - The same - what do you have?
Cyndee - Maybe I'll do it again Friday. Get ready.
Bill - Link for us? please...
Thomas Weiss - I know you have posts that are crying for readers!
Ann - Thanks for the visit, tell Jason I want to see his links
Tony Gallegos - That's certainly a post worthy of this thread... Are the AR Moderators Like Russian Olympic Judges?
Chrissy - Thanks for the link - Heading there now. I saw that they had mentioned how they got there. That's cool.
Adam - Great - added to the list. Especially the Karen George Post. I have been a KG fan from day 1.
Diane - How about readers? Which post might you have wished you had more readers for? Some of my posts are written almost as read only. Do I really want 50 comments of "Great post, bookmarked for later!" ? Not at all.
If all they want are the points for commenting they can have mine. Better yet they could cruise the new Member lists. What Happened? I know that's not exactly what you are referring to.
I want to read quality posts, I want to have quality comments and have intelligent quality conversations. But sometimes, it's just about the eyeballs - are people reading this stuff or am I writing in a vacume?
Tracy - You can go to My Home > Statistics and see just how many people saw your post.
658 views so far. 63 comments? We can do better. But look at the bright side, 461 clicks means 461 other posts were read. That's pretty cool.
Tony - Thanks. That is one post that really deserved a comment!
Mike--
Looks to me like many people noticed your post. I haven't had all the response I would like but I like your style. I would like to link you to some of my websites. This is only one of them.

Hi Marcy - Howdy Neighbor! I would much rather you changed the links to a particular post here on ActiveRain. That is what the original post was about. Rich Jacobson had a similar post this summer where we were allowed to post a link to our outside blog.
Ok Mike,
I'm in the right place now--so here's is the post that I thought more people should have read. I know it's of a local nature but a great human interest story.
Second chances are good.
My main concern is there are so many short sale popping up and more to come and I wrote on short sales - makes me wonder is there enough out there on foreclosures and short sale already... or what? Here are my posts that hardly received any attention!
Short Sale Information
Gosh! I could go on but I won't. I'll just invite visitors to go to my Mother and Daughter Blog and read and comment, please.
Thanks Mike! You're cool.
I'm game...I was hoping to get some more insight from other rainiers about dressing for success...here's my post, I'd love to hear your comments.
Dressing for Success, does it work?
Mike
I think the more relationships you make with people by writing comments and visiting consistently --you develop a following.
Mike,
That was very cool of you to add me to your blog :) . Still 0 comments, maybe I need sexier apples. And you are right....I am checking back to see if you replied to my post! Hope you close w/a strong month! Meg
Mike - There is a resemblance is that your baby face there?
Anyway I had a post awhile back that wasn't the best of posts but I felt it was an important issue so here it is again.

Mike - you have a post here with a smiley on it. I clicked on one a while back and posted the following as a result.
Whoa! Wait a minute! Is this for real! This smiley was found in a post comment which we clicked on and it took us here to smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZCxdm613YYUS.
