Driving Traffic to your Facebook Business Page

Renae asked me what was the best way to drive traffic to a newly created Facebook Fan (business) Page?

Simply change the links that you have that might normally lead to your Facebook Profile (resulting in a new Friend ) to your Facebook Business Page (resulting in a new Fan )

Would that really work?

Looking at the below real time chart from Facebook I would say, VERY MUCH SO!

That Facebook Bottle Cap is much smaller and more concealed than my previous “Join Mike on Facebook” widget yet my traffic dramatically increased.

Currently I have 4 different Facebook "Business" Pages :

Join my Facebook Fan Page!

Mike Mueller: I started this Page as a way to better promote upcoming events I’ll be speaking at, classes I’ll be teaching, or really anything related to the business side of my life.  Join the Mike Mueller Fan Page

Join my Facebook Fan Page! Mueller Maps: This is just to showcase and demonstrate my Google Map Mashup I call “Mueller Maps ”. If you are not familiar with the concept, it’s a great way to embed video directly onto a Google Map.  Best of all, it’s easily updated by adding a row on a spreadsheet.  Join the Mueller Maps Page

Join my Facebook Fan Page AreWeConnected.com: I realized after starting the first two pages, I had not yet created a page for this website.  The website itself needs it’s very own page.  This is a place where everyone who comes by the site and signs in using Facebook Friend Connect will be directed.  Think of it as a home on Facebook for AreWeConnected.  Join the AreWeConnected.com Page

Join my Facebook Fan Page! HyperLocal Edge: Your business is Local.  HyperLocal Edge is a company that helps other companies get noticed. Online and off HyperLocal Edge is a marketing machine that will put your business in front of thousands of new customers.  One of the most difficult tasks for a small business is to attract new business. We give your company the edge over the rest by maximizing the exposure of your brand across several different mediums and getting you noticed.  Need a complete Facebook Business Page?  You’ll need technical skill and help coding.  That’s what we do!

Simple really. I never thought of this. I try to promote my profile but not my page. Both sounds like a good idea or focus it to the fan page.

Shane - do you have a Business Page?  What's the URL?  I'm working on a blog post and need examples

Tom - Try this: http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/

I have been seeing more "fan" pages popping up & know I don't use Facebook to the fullest extent.  Now another thing on my list - but see more benefit after reading this.  thanks

Hi Mike, You are THE BEST! I don't have a fan page yet for RE but may for Horsealicious as soon as I get some content written.

Mike... here is my page.  Link

And I just became a fan of your third page.

Heads up Lane (and so many others) If your link does not look like:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/AreWeConnectedcom/142317300346

You have an incorrect link that will NOT take the person to the Business Page!

If your link looks like: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/nameofyourpage/12345678904

While that might link to your page (for you) it does not link to your page for me or anyone other than you.

Mike's right on target that you should try to link to a standard page like he shows...

This might sound unintuitive, but if you're trying to link to your own facebook page and see a funny URL, then all you have to do to get the correct URL is hit the refresh button on your browser!  When Facebook reloads the page, it changes the URL to the "proper" one!

Hi Mike - I am bookmarking this so that I can experiment with FB and come back to this post if I don't get it right.

I wanted something simple.  Bought http://joespakepage.com and pointed it at my FB business page.

Ok, I think I have it now...  Didn't we go through this once...

Mike, the improvements to the facebook business page over the past month and a half makes this an even more viable alternative.

I have a FB page and FB Business page. Fun, but don't see trhe business aspect. Any ideas?

John - I'm not in the Real Estate Business, I build FB Pages for Agents (and other things)  However there are many many success stories of agents using all forms of Social Media to earn new business.

Linda - The fastest growing demographic on FB is women over 50, if they are there (and so are the men), do you want to add them to your list of "friends" and send them pics of you at the beach? or would you rather separate your personal from private just a bit and connect with them on a slightly more professional level?  You Page is a start.  from there we can add local video,  and interactivity and .... It's limitless.  One of my favorite things is to create a Fan Page for a neighborhood.  How's that for hyperlocal?

Mike,

Rather intriguing. Facebook has a bunch more dimension than I first thought. Need to make some changes to my nascent effort there. Thanks for the info.
